- Mental orientation makes feelings a “sore point” for them, something hard to understand and deal with.
- Versatile talents. Greatest dangers are dispersion and “irresponsibility.”
- Courage of convictions. Speaks truth unhesitantly.
- Commercial, capitalistic. Instinct for free enterprise.
- Quick thinkers, can whistle and blow smoke rings and still be “businesslike.”

- Mobilization makes them good at mechanical/technical things, even if bad in relating.
- Most musical of all constellations (especially vocal and composition).
- Sexually response commonly wired to enduring or inflicting pain (algolagnia).
SUN IN CANCER
- Imagery. Revises, ‘edits,’ and enhances things incessantly.
- Story telling. Great at physical and vocal inflection, can shift moods quickly and easily. Tendency to flower things a little or dramatize a situation. Persuasive.
- Loves center stage. “Darling of the crowd.”
- Sensitivity gives most imaginative writers and artists; also makes them extremely touchy, moody, vacillating.
- Deep sense of insufficiency: lives on borrowed prestige. Uses fertile imagination to create an image of grandeur about self. “Dream-weavers” (or “web-weavers”).
- Self-centered and self-oriented (selfish). (Most eminent bachelors!)
- Very adaptable. Several business ventures going at once.
- Frequently unemployed – Cancer in toto excels in fewer professions than any other constellation, although motivated individual Cancers do quite well.
- Ardent, covetous, sense of urgency.
- Model-building. Bias toward systemmry, schematics, and creating complex structures (Weltanschauung).
- Need to uncover or disclose, to solve or create problems. Constantly putting together puzzles or ‘solving’ something.

SUN IN LEO
- They just glow like sunshine! Sincere, among the warmest and most loyal of friends. Must love and be loved.
- Much affection and warmth to give. Give and accept love in its purest form – only demands from you what you can give.
- Express their needs matter-of-factly – as though they were assumed, their “Divine Right.”
- Lusty sex drives, much fun and play (not always deadly serious). Kittens in the bedroom. Considerate, gentle lovers.
- Kindergarten complex. Oriented to childhood. Takes child-like delight in what has been accomplished.
- “Low profile” on their accomplishments. The major point of their “bragging” is never what they have done, but why. (Need others to understand where they were coming from.)
- Casual dignity, not noisy or flagrant.
- Font of “simple elegance.” “Nice” things on a non-os¬ten¬ta¬tious level.
- Natural flair in mannerisms. Tend to be somehow colorful (dress, speech, etc.).
- Adds a flavor of nobility (regality) to the scene.
- Centricity is required. Desires “satellites,” “holds court.” Can be a delightful centerpiece!
- “Naturals” in positions of authority. Dependable. “Divine Right to rule.”
- Dislikes a plebeian feeling. Detests weakness in self and others (including “hero worshiping” tag-alongs). Proud. Self-aware and self-oriented.
- Competitive.
- Not intimidated or awed by power or authority. Prolific in argument (until Leo feels there is no reason to continue – “What’s the use...?”)
- Dislikes hypocrisy and wastefulness. Deeply moral.
- Rarely agnostic or atheistic. Strong faith in Creator and After¬life. Rarely profane (though can be willingly obscene).
- In constant search of the meaningful. When normal avenues fail, gravitates to a deeper level of meaning.
- Purity-conscious and perfection-sensitive. Pedantic, precision-conscious, capacity for splitting hairs.
- “Weaker” Leos seem like lower-form Cancers. Natural regality, when distorted, becomes over-bearingness and they need continual adoration.
- Wants few children, but heirs are well cared for.
- As a parent: Love own children much and often fails to see their faults. Demands respect, wants own efforts appreciated. Strict but magnanimous (emotionally & materially).
- Paternalistic. Can take talent under own wing & develop it.

SUN IN VIRGO
- At home in a library or bookstore. Usually well educated (formally or self-taught) and well read.
- “Secretaries of the zodiac” (“gophers” and errand people).
- Always in touch with goings on about them, and the “pulse of the times.” Love of history and antiquity. Encyclopedic.
- Nervous undercurrent, but low manic level. Hyper-tense and hyper-attentive.
- Obsessive-compulsive personality style. Acute powers of observation. May remain unaware of the whole by overemphasizing the details.
- Too “mechanical” to be artistic by aesthetic standards.
- Leave it to Virgo to “get the facts.” Logical, analytical.
- Capable of detail work.
- Thrives in “white collar” work.
- ROUTINE-ism. Even flow, often “in a rut.”
- May undervalue the opinion of others: have their own supported and justified views. (It’s important for Virgo to know whether he or she is right!)
- Takes life too seriously. Doesn’t laugh enough.
- Marvelous orators with a sympathetic audience. Has a “com¬mon touch” in self-expression. Extremely sensitive to possible criticism, but courageous in word and action.
- Undemonstrative in romance. Sexually, Virgo can do without better than most others (redirection of libido), but can also do with as well as any (technically skilled).
- Persistent need for companions (cf. Firmicus). Those who are hyperactive sexually seem to use sex as a friends-making device.
- Shy, modest, bashful, blushes easily.
- Highly tolerant, extraordinarily easy to get along with, congenial, tactful. “Nice guys.”
- Innate air of innocence and even naiveté allows them to get away with more than most others. (Not held responsible for actions, taken care of, looked after, can “tell off” superiors.)
- Servant Motif. Highly devoted, eager to assist. Martyr syndrome, emotional masochism.
- “Unused to rage” (Manilius). Resistance to bother. Refusal to let anything interfere with serenity. Handles even emergencies in routine fashion.
- Cold but adamant adherence to principles. Conscientious in most dealings. Finds behavior “appropriate” to the situation.
- Strategic. Many significant military figures. Tactical.
- Has a greater concern for the conditions of the “common man,” yet does not support causes by radical means. Expends much effort toward social “progress.”
- Good psychologists. Frequently some type of counselor.
- Diet and health conscious (but not fanatically cleanliness- or germ-conscious unless Saturn is strong).
SUN IN LIBRA
- Relationship Conscious. Responds warmly to friendly overtures. Courteous, polite, well mannered.
- Social adjustment problems. Key difficulties to overcome before they are comfortable relating socially.
- Self-conscious about their relatability (including sexuality). Afraid they “won't know what to do.” Fear or rejection.
- Possessive of people. Jealous.
- Love of the esthetic; often also a capacity for artistic ACHIEVEMENT.
- Enjoys beautiful, comfortable surroundings: “nice” lifestyle.
- Usually delightful, charming, affectionate people.
- Don't go out much. Would rather stick to “home territory.” Fond of their homes: a comfortable, pleasant place to retreat. It just seems that they are never at home.
- Busy-ness. When not at home they maintain a rather full, hectic schedule. Always has schedule full of things to do.
- Has difficulty coordinating the various parts of his/her life to prevent their detrimentally overlapping.
- The idea of pain abhors them, but they can be highly insensitive to pain when actually experiencing it. (For Libra, the idea is always more than the real thing.)
- DISFIGUREMENT-sensitive. Very conscious of their bodies, appearances, etc. (the slightest blemish can panic them). Yet can adjust easily to scars, etc. when necessary.
- Psychological sadism (“Misery loves company”).
- TEASE motif. Makes things enticing, “Gets them wanting more.” (Sexually, selling ideas, story-telling, etc.)
- Deny themselves gratification by not sharing their needs and wants with others. May sublimate desire into food or something else pleasurable. (They love food!)
- Touchers – not just in sex.
- NARCISSISTIC in sex. Attention and “strokes” (in TA sense) essential to their sexual pleasure.
- Love of peace. Mediators, negotiators, “peace-makers” except where their own most personal problems are concerned. (Must be “third party” negotiators.)
- People go to Libra with problems because s/he returns unbiased (but cautious) feedback. Resolves conflicts by trying to please everyone at once.
- Frequently has difficulty making decisions because is unwilling to commit – afraid of making the wrong choice.
- No false compliments are given by Libra – has to feel s/he is being sincere.
- They recognize the existence of a problem, but not the underlying cause. “Black Sheep of the Zodiac.” Difficulty in coming to terms with own shortcomings.
- Slow to sing own praises. Not satisfied with themselves as they are: very conscious that they could be doing better, that their personalities need an overall, but do very little about it.
- Cares strongly about (and many are activists for) issues of human rights, environmental protection, animal rights, etc. (e.g., Theodore Roosevelt, Alfred Nobel, Dame Anita Roddick, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Warren Christopher, Bill Gates, etc. plus numerous notable peace-makers).

- Cautious in committing to schedules until sure s/he can carry through. “Checks the map and gas tank before the trip.”
- Allows a margin of error.

- BALANCE motif. Takes Karma into own hands. Golden Rule: “Do unto others as they have done unto you – only more so!” Remembers any favors; but, once they are crossed, make tracks!
- INTENSE. Can outstare anyone. Incredible ability to stew.

- Venus takes care of her own: Libra women are very comfortable with their roles (Aphrodite incarnate) – they do far better than Libra men.

- Career women. Libra women live in a woman’s role as it would be if women were the predominant gender.

SUN IN SCORPIO
- Tireless, dynamic, energetic, persevering.
- Creates best “effects” through novel approaches and surprising intensity. (“Damn the torpedoes...”)
- Loves danger, risk; impulsively or fearlessly tackles any difficult situation.
- They “expect the protection of the Gods” (Firmicus).
- Impatient.
- Barnstorming boldness & moral courage.
- Abhors apathy in society.
- Keen sense of humor.
- Iconoclastic in theory, but usually more conservative in behavior.
- Freedom Motif dominates them. (Claustrophobic.)
- Hates forced schedules. Rarely comfortable in a “9 to 5.”
- Little interest in theory unless it is immediately practical. Believes in action, not idle dreams.
- Finds strategy more difficult than actual execution of a plan.
- Pragmatic, if not iconoclastic, in religion. Conscious of the relevance and natural unity of all Creation, without getting lost in the clouds.
- PROMETHEAN: Able to reduce abstract truths, music, philosophical themes into terms understandable to the common person. (Talented teachers.)

- Keen analytical ability: hidden motives rarely escape their notice. Commonly astute judges of character.

- Corked volcanoes. Ever in a state of “wanna.” If immediate expression is denied them, they push sexual tension under the surface where it builds, needing eventual release (and making them irritable).
- Phallic awareness. Not squeamish in sexual matters.
- Scorpio girls are generally tomboys.
- In a relationship, expects of you what s/he personally can give (but is willing to give freely – generously).
SUN IN SAGITTARIUS
- Innate sense of elitism, whatever their environment.
- Stratification is inherent in their sense of order – socially, professionally, politically. Hierarchical.
- Excellence. Quality-conscious.
- Tremendous pride in doing well what they do. Artistic only in the sense of eager for quality results.
- Self-image problems. Don’t meet their own standards of excellence. (May think they have to prove themselves.)
- Compliment Sagittarius and you will get a sputtered, embarrassed reply; hear it joked away; or have it completely ignored. Denigrates compliments, makes them seem not worth replying to – doesn’t think he deserves them.
- May not want to believe what you tell him about his horoscope. (Doesn’t want to get “busted.”)
- Sense of humor ironic, or commonplace and prosaic.
- “HIGHER & HIGHER” Motif. Ambitious, climbing, striving to achieve.
- May be directed into religious/spiritual areas.
- Satisfied at attaining a preconceived level. (The arrow is aimed at a specific mark or target.)
- Self-image problems may strangle ambition.

- Improvement-oriented. Respect for the acquired, built-up body of knowledge.

- Sagittarius perpetuates those cultural elements and human values which have proven worthwhile within his perspective. Mores-preserving. o Patron of most art forms. o Academic-minded, scholarly and studious. o Religion, drama, history, foreign affairs, education.
- Responds to societal standards far stronger than to peer group pressures.
- TOTEMISTIC. Constructs Weltanschauung and “systems.”
- In romance, follows the rules. (MATING DANCE.) Both sexes play out their expected roles in male-female relationships. o Men are chivalrous. o Women want to be courted, but may go to bed with someone simply because they feel it is expected.
- Gallant men, gracious ladies. (“Courtly.”) Conscious of the impressions they are making.
- A sense of aristocracy. Much pride.
- Keen sense of the dramatic: appropriate dramatization.
- Sticks to family ties (decent = descent). Intensely patriotic. “My country (or family), RIGHT OR WRONG.”
- Strong TRIBALISM or clan-consciousness. Doesn’t always acknowledge natural peers – surrounds self with a selected peer circle, (family, “the gang,” fraternity, religious brotherhood, political party, astrology, philosophical move¬ments, or other family surrogates that give a sense of heritage and belonging.)
- Very low sexual appetites (de-centralized eroticism = affection and complacence.) “Misogamy motif.”
- Myth-building and sustaining. Preserving of significant elements of a cultural mythology. – They themselves may be candidates for “folk-hero” (or villain) status (Elvis, Howard Hughes, Nostradamus, the literary birthday for Sherlock Holmes, the most likely candidate for Jack the Ripper, etc.)
- Other General Observations: Highly mutable people, shooting off in multiple directions for various interests; or having “serial interests,” heavily interested in one topic for a time and then dropping that as they are heavily drawn to others.
SUN IN CAPRICORN
- It’s hard to really get to know them: Although they come across as very sociable and likable, they aren’t deeply forthcoming.
- A witty, original, though sometimes perverse sense of humor (defense against melancholy). Sense of macabre. Not terribly glum. Story telling.
- Good speakers – “honest in grace in speech” (Firmicus). Champs in the art of “proverbing.”
- Strong potential for discontent. Potentially a severe critic.
- Skeptical.
- Mentally a nonconformist – gets pleasure from upsetting the Establishment with unusual attire, manner, speech, action.
- Prankish juvenescence at times.
- Never “hard sells” a cause, and supports few.
- Aloofness. Little “team spirit” – a “singleton” in sports.
- Shades of prohibitionism – persistence, compensation (Adler: often due to organic defects).
- Little desire for children.
- Little spontaneous creativity. Few great painters (Cezanne). – However, musical appreciation and instrumental facility.
- “Blase boldness, exterior coldness” (Bradley). Emotions are restricted and withdrawn/cautious.
- Congenial and externally compliant socially, often displaying an “Everything’s all right” attitude.
- Cautious – least accident-prone constellation.
- Great ability to shrug off or disregard any facts of happenings they would rather not face. Refusal to be convinced – stubbornness – automatic resistance to mind-changing attempts by others. “Resentful of intrusion.”
- Tends to make generalizations which are his form of social protest. “Fictional Finalisms” (Adler).
- E.g., “All men are created equal.” “Honesty is the best policy.” “The end justifies the means.” “It’s in the Bible.” “It ain’t necessarily so.” “All’s well that ends well.” “I do the best I can.” “I live for my home and family.”
- Romantically, tends to remain aloof until very sure, then grabs hard. Dutiful, devoted, and tenacious in marriage. (Women often ‘sexual martyrs’ – but once they give up control enough to make an emotional commitment, it becomes a total involvement to the point that sexuality becomes little more than a vehicle for emotional communion.)
- Struggle hard against life to get their jobs done. Tenacious of life, sense of responsibility and duty. Workaholics.
- Frugal in words and finances (note Franklin’s adages). Capacity for brevity.

SUN IN AQUARIUS
- Most "scientific" type: inventive, analytic, delights in investigation and discovery.
- Avoidance of complex systematization (contrary to Cancer). Agnostic, “Natural Mysticism.”
- Interest in occult and recondite subjects. (Many reincarnationists.) Interest in profound or serious thought.
- Avid reader, absorbs concepts and ideas quickly.
- Highly talented, creative. Very musical (mostly vocal).
- Can judge others and themselves dispassionately, objectively. Takes people for what they are without trying to alter or misrepresent them, without being impressed by pomp, etc.
- Ignores barriers of race or class.
- Rarely pretends to be anything he isn’t (yet many excellent actors). Uses vernacular in writing.
- Sense of humor “off the beaten track.” Cynical at times.
- Strong opinions freely expressed.
- Needs freedom of movement and action. Behavior often seems unconventional but within certain personal bounds.
- Desired responses must be enticed from them, never coerced or forced.
- Often seems to undermine relationships subconsciously (feeling autonomy threatened?).

- Sensitive, easily hurt, can be terribly touchy (but often won’t express the hurt). – Worriers: fear the worst in a strenuous situation. Potentially high anxiety level.

- Wanderlust, restless. Often travels with a purpose (often missionaries, preachers, banner-wavers).
- Subjective approach to life. Interest in the mystical.
- “Make a production out of everything.” Flair for dramatization. Actors. Very musical.
- Suave speech – pleasant social address – orators – good teachers (community leaders).
- Biasing, deceiving, conning (self and others). “They believe every word that comes out of their own mouths” (Gleadow).
- Shifting loyalties. Strong religious drives, but tends to change religious (or other) affiliations at the drop of a hat. Judas Complex.
- Idealists – Visionaries – Romanticists – Dreamers (“Everything will be fine”). Some overcome phenomenally negative chart conditions to self-actualize through personal idealism (or refusing to bother themselves with the problems.)
- Sociable, amiable. In search of idealistic relationships. Wants any relationship to be story-bookish; when they finally realize it isn’t, off they go at once.
- Hard to please by intimates; easy to please by non-intimate acquaintances.
- Tend to create own problems (conjure psychic demons). Create conditions from which it is difficult to extricate themselves.
- Individualistic front. Actually, they only behave individualistically when selecting a pattern in which to live. PATTERN PEOPLE.
- Striving for predictability. They cast themselves in a specific role then block out all signals or hints that there could possibly be another way, another pattern by which to BE. Difficulty breaking out of negative patterns.
- Slavery motif. At best, consciously “indentured” to something. At worst, a persistent victim. (Cf. Andromeda near Pisces in the sky.)
- Misoneistic. Traditional (not in a Saturnian way). Snobbish.
- Low pain threshold (physical or emotional). Sensitive.
- Lean toward high I.Q. – “absorbs knowledge without much difficulty” (Fagan) – good memories for facts.
- Often too deadly serious for their own good. (Obsessive-compulsive if Saturn is strong.) Diluted (“watered-down”) sense of humor.
- Do own jobs effectively and expect others to likewise do their share to “keep the wheels turning.” (Slave motif again.) Judgmental, “holier than thou” attitude.
- They are strong (intense) – you never know strong what, but they are strong (especially women; men less so). Strength is directly proportionate to their emotional attunement.
- Strong sex drive, sensuousness. Indulgent. Enjoy good food.
- Alliances and affiliations shift and slide more easily than most. Vested participation in a group or alliance waxes and wanes (rhythmically?).
SUN IN ARIES
- ACTION-ORIENTED. Active, dynamic, impatient. Perpetual adolescents.
- Cyclothymic or cycloidal (manic-depressive), though not necessarily financially (as was suggested by Manilius).
- Political. Power-hungry, rather than like Sagittarius social climbers. Need to control and play leader.
- At home in business/commercial world of “money-power.”
- Must be a leader in whichever situation, either highly orthodox or highly unorthodox. Many disrupt the status quo, revel in their nonconformity, and boost their own egos by causing social disturbances. Capricious.
- Express opinions unhesitantly, honestly, and frequently. Polemical. “Bold in their opinions” (Firmicus). Will not mince words. “Unhindered by modesty” (Manilius). Directness may leave hurt feelings at times.
- Often lack the capacity for empathy, thus insensitive to the feelings or moods of others.
- “Image problem” expressed either as overt insecurity or blatant overstressed ego. “Uncertain hearts in trembling bosoms” (Manilius).
- Very sensitive to criticism. Rarely admits own mistakes. Slow to retreat or apologize.
- “Hates to be under an obligation” (Gleadow). Fears indebtedness, does not want gratitude to be expected of him/her.
- Analytical, objective, utilitarian. “Immediacy with a practical touch.” Theory must be made practical. Resourceful.
- Violent deaths, suicides, accident-prone.
- Many are romantically aggressive, “wants action.” – Once settled, very faithful.
- Strong family sense. Takes great pride in own children. May lean toward extravagance with loved ones.
